WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Discouraged
So the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 51:11 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom you have not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith-the salvation of your souls. I Peter 1:6-9 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praise-worthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:6-8 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me. Psalm 138:7 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. John 14:1 Peace I leave with you, My peace 1 give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. II Corinthians 4:8, 9 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have a need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. Hebrews 10:35, 36 Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Galatians 6:9 Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD. Psalm 31:24 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in his pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, LORD, I will seek." Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me. O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me. Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! Psalm 27:1-14
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Worried
Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. I Peter 5:7 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. John 14:1 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6, 7 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3 safety. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8 And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?" For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:25-34 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Proverbs 3:24 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, "They shall not enter My rest," although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. Hebrews 4:3, 9 Great peace has those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble. Psalm 119:165 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. my fortress; I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and My God, in Him I will trust." Psalm 91:1, 2 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Lonely
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13:5 Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. Matthew 28:20 For the LORD will not forsake His people, for His great name's sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you His people. I Samuel 12:22 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I Will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. John 14:18 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. John 14:1 The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, And will say, "Destroy!" Deuteronomy 33:27 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Yet in all these things we are more than con- conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39 (For the LORD your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them. Deuteronomy 4:31 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me. Psalm 27:10 "For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed," Says the LORD, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10 for you. Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares I Peter 5:7 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Depressed
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. Psalm 34:17 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. Isaiah 43:2 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. I Peter 4:12, 13 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. Isaiah 61:3 But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we are. selves are comforted by God. Il Corinthians 1:3, 4 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38, 39 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praise-worthy-meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I Will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. I Peter 5:6, 7 Then he spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart. Luke 18:1 Then he said to them, "Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our LORD. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10 So the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 51:11
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Dissatisfied
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. Psalm 34:10 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring. Isaiah 44:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Psalm 37:3 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:12, 13 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You. Thus I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips. Psalm 63:1-5 A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, And the recompense of a man's hands will be rendered to him. Proverbs 12:14 And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness," says the LORD. Jeremiah 31:14b You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. Joel 2:26 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagles. Psalm 103:1-5 For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness. Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price. Isaiah 55:1 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Condemned
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:10, 12 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. ll Corinthians 5:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:17, 18 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judg-ment, but has passed from death into life. John 5:24 For I will be merciful to their unrighteous-ness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more. Hebrews 8:12 1, even I am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. Isaiah 43:25 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:7 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD," And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah Psalm 32:5 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Psalm 32:1 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." Revelation 12:10, 11 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, "Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?" John 8:10, 11 "No more shall every man teach his neigh-bor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know LORD. "For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more." Jeremiah 31:34 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22 For if you return to the LORD, your brethren and your children will be treated with compassion by those who lead them captive, so that they may come back to this land; for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn His face from you if you return to Him. Il Chronicles 30:9
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Confused
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Il Chronicles 30:9
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Angry
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:19, 20 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath. Ephesians 4:26 A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14 He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly. Proverbs 14:29 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret; it only causes harm. Psalm 37:8 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit more than he who takes a city. Proverbs 16:32 Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:9 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. Romans 12:19 If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For so you will heap coals of fire on his head, And the LORD will reward you. Proverbs 25:21, 22 For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay," says the Lord. And again, "The LORD will judge His people." Hebrews 10:30 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ for gave you. Ephesians 4:31, 32 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:22-24 A wise man fears and departs from evil, But a fool rages and is self-confident. A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, And a man of wicked intentions is hated. Proverbs 14:16, 17 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Colossians 3:8
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Tempted
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. I Corinthians 10:12, 13 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. Hebrews 2:18 Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations. Il Peter 2:9 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:14 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Psalm 119:11 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. James 1:13, 14 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Proverbs 28:13 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. I John 1:9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing char the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. I Peter 5:8, 9 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Ephesians 6:10, 11, 16 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. I John 4:4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:2, 3, 12 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty. Jude 24, 25 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Peter 1:6,7
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL
Rebellious
Obey those who rule over you, and be sub. missive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. Hebrews 13:17 A wise man fears and departs from evil, But a fool rages and is self-confident. A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, And a man of wicked intentions is hated. Proverbs 14:16, 17 So Samuel said: "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. LORD, Because you have rejected the word of He also has rejected you from being king." I Samuel 15:22, 23 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be aber, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming your-scres to the former lusts, as in your ignorance. I Peter 1:13, 14 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken. Isaiah 1:19, 20 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. I Peter 2:13-15 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2.5-8 Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which he suffered. Hebrews 5:8 Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. I Peter 5:5, 6 Submitting to one another in the fear of God. Ephesians 5:21 No grave trouble will overtake the righteous, But the wicked shall be filled with evil. Proverbs 12:21 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. Romans 6:12, 13 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. Ephesians 4:17, 18 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7
